For Ugyen Lhamo Tamang, a long-standing client of RMF since 2015, a small loan became the beginning of a remarkable journey toward a better livelihood and a more secure future.

In 2015, Ugyen Lhamo took her first loan of Nu. 30,000 from RMF to purchase a Jersey cow. At the time, the investment was modest, but for her family, it represented an important opportunity to create a sustainable source of income. With determination and hard work, she began selling the cow’s milk to people in her community.

The Jersey cow quickly became more than just livestock it became a source of hope and financial independence. Through milk sales, Ugyen Lhamo was able to earn approximately Nu. 15,000 to Nu. 20,000 per month. This additional income helped her meet household needs while also giving her the confidence to invest further in her dairy business.

As her farm began to grow, Ugyen Lhamo continued to make use of RMF’s financial services. Over the years, she accessed multiple loans to upgrade and expand her dairy farm. With each investment, she improved her livestock, strengthened her farm, and increased her capacity to generate income.

Her journey is a testament to what can happen when access to finance is combined with determination, hard work, and a clear vision. What started with a single Jersey cow purchased through a Nu. 30,000 loan gradually developed into a growing dairy enterprise.

Today, Ugyen Lhamo looks back on her journey with gratitude and pride. Her experience with RMF has not only provided her with access to finance but has also enabled her to turn a small opportunity into a sustainable livelihood.
